3.5 more hours to go...

Ahh work is so boring. All I do is sit around all day, surf the Internet, edit maybe one or two graphic files for my boss...and that's pretty much it. I feel bad for the amount of time that I spend just sitting here without really anything to do...for some reason, I have the least work to do out of all the student workers? o.o;;

I'm so excitedd, I get to go home soon! Back to real civilization and socialization! As much fun as being at school is (and I actually don't mean that sarcastically...well, maybe a little), I think I need to go home for a bit. I have an interview for an internship on Monday, and if all goes well, I might just be able to stay home the rest of the summer! Yay!

One good thing is that since there's nothing to do around here, I've had no choice but to try to be a little bit productive. One thing I did was start to practice cooking~ I'm trying to learn a couple recipes so that when I go home, I can cook for my family...and not kill them in the process =_=;;

So far I've made...

Pasta! With all my favorite things - beef, onions, garlic, and cheese!

Masaman Curry! I had Thai food for the first time at "King & I" and it was delicious!! So I tried making the curry myself with the leftover stuff in the fridge haha...used ground beef, carrots, onions, curry sauce, and coconut milk.

I didn't take a picture, so below is just one I found off the internet. But...it looks close enough!

I think I've made some progress, given that last year was the first time I ever made eggs myself...>_>;; I've been watching Tina cook and just looking up recipes online. I really enjoy cooking for people now! Going to keep learning haha.

Also made a video with people! We did a spoof of the movie "Drag Me to Hell" based on our lovely parking services here. I haaate watching myself in videos though, as well as seeing myself in pictures. I always feel like I look / sound so weird ahhh. But it turned out to be a good video nonetheless, due to Di's editing skills and Johnny's very enthustiastic acting haha.

Click to watch! :D

Ahh it's only 1:30. 3.5 more hours of work to go!

Waiting, Waiting!

I'm trying to keep up with my goal of actually blogging regularly. I feel like I don't have much to say though...I'm a pretty boring person :X Though I've had a lot of fun reading and finding other blogs to reading these days. I like reading ones about photography, fashion, or beauty. I guess it sounds really stereotypically "girlish" but I really admire those girls who can blog and think up of tutorials and stuff. I'm hoping to learn more from it~ I really want to try to change myself this summer. Hopefully become more confident in myself, especially my looks - not very confident in that at all >.<;;

I've just been working these past few days. Even though this city doesn't really have much to do, and the weather is so bipolar, it's nice that there are still people around to hang out with. Otherwise, I think I'd go crazy @.@ Though I might get a chance to escape!! I am going back to NYC soon, and I have an interview for an internship at BBB. So if all goes well, hopefully I'll get accepted and get to spend the rest of the summer back home :) Although being in the city is sooo bad for me...so many wonderful things and temptations ahhh...

Right now, I am so excited though. I finallyyy gathered the courage and decided to order a DSLR! I got the Canon Rebel XS, which I tested out and seems perfect for a newbie like me who wants to learn more. I've been wanting one for years and I've been saving up for a long time, but I always kept pushing back buying it. It's supposed to arrive TODAY, so I'm so psyched!! I keep checking my e-mail every few minutes for package delivery notification :)

It's so beautiful! <3

I'll post more later :)

Summer at university~

So of course, while the rest of the world is enjoying some blue skies and sunnier weather...it has been raining and gray for the past couple of days here. Which I guess shouldn't be a surprise to me, after two years of attending school here...but I guess sometimes one dares to dream. And I thought I remembered it being sunnier around this time last year...oh well.

I have just been working at my two jobs, hanging around. I'm so glad that I have friends here over the summer - otherwise, I think I'd go crazy with boredom. Even still, everyone's usually busy with their own stuff...jobs, classes, interning, etc.

I've tried being productive and passing time through various activities. I've started designing a website for one of my friends. And I've also started to practice cooking. It's embarrassing, but I've never really cooked before for various reasons. But hopefully that will change this summer! I want to go home and be able to cook meals for my family...my mom seems to think it's funny that I'm developing this sudden interest in cooking =.=;;

Hehe here's a picture of a pasta I made following a recipe from Allrecipes. It has all my favorite things...MEAT, cheese, onions, and garlic! And it actually turned out pretty good, if I say so myself :D

A World with Love

Summer around here is always such an adventure - the weather is so damn bipolar. For a few days, it was finally starting to get sunny and the skies were starting to get blue...and now it's been gloomy, gray, and rainy for the past few days.

Yipee.

I'm at work right now...this summer is going to be spent working & sleeping. On Mondays and Fridays, I work as an Office Assistant for the Center for Entrepreneurship, and Tuesday, Wednesday, Thurdsay, I work as a Computer Assistant. It's actually been pretty fun...working 9-5 is pretty tiring, but I've been getting some good experience. I look forward to learning more about web graphics and design from my Computer Assistant job =D

I was reading New York Times today, and I stumbled upon their "One in 8 Million" collection thing. It's a collection of photos relating to a story. The one today was about a Chinese family that has 3 biological sons, and then they just adopted a little girl from Ethiopia. I thought the photos were lovely and the story was touching...if anyone's interested, here's the link =D

It's touching to see that there is still selfless love in the world. I think the family, and families like them are so wonderful.

As inspired by Christy...I made a list of things to do this summer too~ I like lists. They keep me more organized and remind me of what I have to do. Otherwise, I just forget things or lose motivation.

1. Make this into a more interactive blog
2. Change up my style...I feel like I look and act too immature sometimes. 20 is still young, but I feel like it's time I start maturing a bit.
3. Compose 2 new pieces
4. Design 2 new web layouts - one for Di's "Sleepy Panda Productions"
5. Tentatively...work my ass off and maybe finally get the Canon Rebel DSLR XS (*drools* I've been debating getting this camera for the looongest time...so tempted...)
6. Finish China Nite Skit
7. Plan out other China Nite stuff! Like getting sponsors to give money for costumes, plan performances, etc.
8. GO HOME and see all my LI loves~
9. Learn to cook! And bake!
10. Gain more weight so I don't look like a 12-year-old anymore =.=;; I'm getting way too unhealthily skinny haha.

:D

"Wide Screen Vision"

So I decided to give this whole blogging thing one more try...like fo'reals. Now that it's summer and I don't have any studying to do, I must have time that I can devote to blogging...right? Right?

We'll see how it goes.

I decided to create a new blog for my restart into the blogging world. And also because the URL to my previous blog just didn't bring up good memories - I used a nickname that someone gave me a long time ago because I couldn't think of anything else. Unfortunately, that nickname has been tainted with some sour memories and unhappier times. So I figured...eh...I'll just start over from scratch.

"Wide screen vision" - a friend (ahh sorry, I forget who!) used that phrase to refer to my eyes. I have pretty small eyes, even for an Asian - all those FML's about people who get accused of sleeping when they're actually awake? Yeah...story of my life. So thus, I adopted the phrase "widescreen vision" - my eyes are more horizontal than vertical...like how a widescreen television plays out. Hehe :D I thought it was funny, so I decided to adopt it for my blog. I used to hate hate hate having small eyes...I used to get made fun of a lot for having little chinky eyes. And then...one day everything changed. But that's for another time.

Wish me luck on starting this new blog ;)
